January 26, 2024 – Shen Yongji's solo exhibition Texture Lighting opened at the Ningbo Museum of Art. The presentation of Texture Lighting in the museum's gallery was a spatial art journey integrating sound and light. The work consisted of a 10-minute-and-37-second musical composition and 43 sets of boat-shaped lighting installations. Shen Yongji skillfully infused his profound understanding of the spatial rhythm and vitality inherent in traditional Chinese sculpture into the activation of this contemporary art space.

The music unfolds in five movements: Leaving the River, Entering the Sea, Ascending to the Sky, Reaching the Horizon, and Dissolving into Emptiness. Together with the boat-shaped lighting installations, it creates a multi-dimensional experiential space brimming with "new Eastern imagery." Beginning with the departure from the river and entry into the sea, the work thrives facing the ocean. Its essence, energy, and spirit are condensed, like a dragon chasing a pearl — as sounds rise and forms move, radiance bursts forth in all directions. An immense energy swirls within the museum, as if poised to break out through its walls. The creative process has endured its share of trials, and now that the work has finally been unveiled, it soars like a dragon in the sky.
