On August 16, 2024, the 4th Western China Art Biennale was held at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts Art Museum. Titled "Origin and Intellectual Innovation," the Biennale explores "origin" as the root from which things emerge, while "intellectual innovation" recombines the concepts of "wisdom" and "innovation." As one of the participating artists, Shen Yongji presented the work The Dawn Approaches. Building upon traditional sculpture, the work innovates in both material and form, using clean geometric shapes to break away from sculpture's conventional emphasis on form, infusing the language of sculpture with renewed vitality.
