Digital Art Exhibition of Ancient Buildings in Shanxi
2024-05-01

Digital Art Exhibition of Ancient Buildings in Shanxi opened on May 1, 2024 at the Shanxi Museum. Centered on the theme "The Changing Tone of Time and Space," the exhibition takes Shanxi's ancient architecture as its starting point for the first time, linking traditional culture with contemporary art to present a cross-temporal dialogue of civilizations. The works featured in this exhibition materialize light, using it as a foundation to create geometric, abstract boat-shaped forms, aiming to explore the inheritance, fusion, and innovation between the spirit of ancient Chinese architecture and contemporary artistic expression.

"Huan Shou" (Phantom Head) is a sound, light, and spatial installation composed of a 10-minute-and-37-second musical composition and 43 sets of boat-shaped lighting installations. It creates a multi-dimensional experiential space imbued with "new Eastern imagery," expressing a resolute attitude of setting sail once again—"leaving the river, entering the sea, and thriving facing the ocean." An immense energy swirls within the gallery, as if poised to burst forth, pierce the sky, and soar like a dragon aloft. The music unfolds in five movements: Leaving the River, Entering the Sea, Ascending to the Sky, Reaching the Horizon, and Dissolving into Emptiness. The lighting shifts in brightness and rhythm in response to the music, evoking the development and transformation of different emotions. Through diverse artistic practices and interactive spatial design, the work creates a new experience of sculptural space.
