From September 19 to September 20, 2024, with the support of the Graduate School of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Shen Yongji held his solo exhibition The Layering of Time. The works presented in this solo exhibition were primarily from his Cold Abstraction series. Their clean, abstract forms brought a fresh dimension to sculptural expression—sculpture need not be confined to traditional shapes; it can also be abstract graphics, simple lines, or even incorporate design thinking. Works do not have to overemphasize completeness, refinement, or legibility. By placing conceptual priority first, followed by formal innovation, Shen Yongji's works offer a new creative approach to sculpture.
