NFCC Art Space is honored to present its inaugural exhibition, SHEN YONGJI: Forging of Perspectives, which features 14 of the artist's latest works created between 2023 and 2025.
Alchemy is far more than simply "turning lead into gold." In simple terms, it is a complex system of thought and practice originating in antiquity, blending philosophy, early chemistry, mysticism, and magic. At its core lies not merely material transformation, but a philosophy concerning the conversion and sublimation of all things in the universe. This exhibition uses the "alchemist" as a metaphor and guiding thread, seeking to dissect three dimensions of Shen Yongji's artistic practice: On the material level, he has achieved an innovation in creative methodology—fusing the ancient technique of gold-and-silver inlay with the modern texture of acrylic, realizing a creative transformation of materials. On the formal level, he is engaged in a translation of visual language—extracting an abstract, minimalist contemporary grammar from traditional realism, restructuring the way we see. On the spiritual level, he practices the tempering of his inner world—sublimating the anxiety and struggle inherent in creation into the transparency and release found in works like Letting Go, continuously seeking the beautiful within his heart.
As the inaugural exhibition of NFCC Art Space, Forging of Perspectives is not only a阶段性 summary of Shen Yongji's artistic journey but also a symbol of the space's own academic stance: NFCC Art Space is committed to building a platform where tradition and contemporaneity converse, and where matter and spirit intermingle, inviting every viewer to embark on their own journey of perspective transformation. Here, art is not merely a visual presentation, but a new way of understanding the world.
